Petals...
I pulled a petal from the flower...
I thought of her and said, "She loves me!"
I pulled another from the flower...
Picturing her smile, I whispered, "She loves me not"...
Beaming, I thought of her eyes, "She loves me!"
Nervously, I pulled the next one, "She loves me not"...
Remembering her kisses, I said loudly, "She loves me,"
Another petal falls to the ground.
Thinking once of when I hurt her, "She loves me not"...
My heart ached to cause her pain.
Pulling again, I thought of her love, "She REALLY does love me!"
Looking down at the flower I held...
I realized there was one last petal,
          My eyes began to tear.
But then I realized that I had dropped all the petals
that said she loved me, in front of me...
And all the petals that said she love me not, behind me.
I placed the flower with the one lone petal behind me gently,
To join the sadness but never to pull.
I picked up the petals in front of me, and walked away...
Holding her love forever.
