Turning 50
In just a few hours, I will be half a century old...
No fanfare, no surprise party, not even a cake.
The reason is, if the truth has to be told...
The only ones who know, cannot plans make.

How can I explain how hard I fought forty...
To find myself live ten years more?
Now I find that I will be fifty...
And the most important year, was the one before.

Fortynine years to justify a life...
Fifty years to insure I exist.
Birthday coming cuts like a knife...
Mind grows duller in a mist.

But there is reason that God gave me...
To carry on and see each day.
The reason is you, as I turn fifty...
You keep youself young in every way.

You remain so ageless, even through time...
I wish my wrinkles did not show.
But I am sure you are forever mine...
So with happiness to fifty, I now go.
