Gentle Dreams Soon So Far
Watching over you as you sleep, I begin to tear...
Hating the thoughts that this day brings...
A week together, knowing the end is near...
Of holding you close, my eyes now sting.

Two thousand miles will pass on tomorrow's flight...
Taking me away from my heart...
A trip I dread now and begin to fight...
Wanting the week to once again start.

Who would have thought when we met...
That from so far, we would know that it was real...
Who could have guessed or would have bet...
That it would be love that we feel.

Would you have run, had you known...
Would you have said that it is too far...
Would you unearth the seeds that were sown...
To prevent the harvest of what we are.

Or have stayed with me knowing as I do...
That love knows not miles, nor measure of time...
Only the thoughts of missing you...
Making the grapes sweeter off the vine.

So once again I must leave to return another day...
But my heart remains so true...
Till again, alongside you I lay...
To once again, watch over you.
